The Preserved Iris Flower
We now know from the BMP that Gwen never went to Elona, she just escaped the Charr in Ascalon and met up with the ebon vanguard in far shiverpeaks pretty quickly.
So, why is there a preserved iris flower in a chest on the Barbarous shore?
Was it just a design team lore inconsistency, or is something greater at work here?

Perhaps Gwen became dissatisfied with her life in the Ebon Vanguard and joined the corsairs for a brief stint?
Arrgh, I be Captain Gwen, and so forth.

This may be a shock, but Gwen may not have been the only person in the world who liked the Red Iris Flowers. There could have easily been someone either from Ascalon (or Charr territories), or have visited those areas, that was a Corsair, joined the Corsair afterwards, or was plundered by Corsair en route somewhere. That flower could have made it's way, preserved, by a multitude of different ways - it doesn't have to have anything to do with Gwen.

Yeah but it's a bit odd, seeing as they were related completely to Gwen. Other Iris Flowers were picked and handled by Gwen. It's like someone finding Togo's Staff in Snake Dance and someone else saying, well it might have been someone else who took it there.
It real life it could have been true. But in a game I doubt the idea was "oh let's put an iris flower here. but Gwen hasn't been here? Someone else could have taken it though".

Uhh, no, it's nothing like that. Now, if it said: "Gwen's Preserved Red Iris Flower," then you'd be onto something. After all, our characters picked them up all the time - does that mean it could be linked to our characters, too? Just because Gwen is the only NPC that will accept them as gifts doesn't mean they have anything to do with Gwen.
The only link is the location in which they could be picked, not any one person.

Perhaps they were left by that weirdo/stalkerish assassin guy in the Char territories in GW:EN? He looks like an Ascalonian to me, and I think he's supposed to be one. He's traveled all over the place as well, so it's not entirely unpluasible that he might have visited that corner of Elona.

No other character in Guild Wars is associated with a the iris flowers, only Gwen. Lore consistency FTW.
I thought originally (before GW:ENs release) that the only reason for this to be there was to provide Elonian characters with a means to attain one... except now they also spawn just outside the Eye of the North outpost, and in the Charr Homelands. So I can't figure it out.

Maybe it had something to do with Utopia, lore wise.

I have one of these in storage. I'm still debating to toss it or keep it. Was hoping I'd get an answer here. Guess not.

Again, the link to the flower is entirely location, not an individual. Just because Gwen is the only NPC that reacts to the item, doesn't mean she is the only person in the GW world that can be associated with that item. Lore consistency? No, how about red herring. It throws the players off without being entirely impossible or even implausible. It doesn't take a huge stretch of imagination to come up with how it got there.

Barbarous Shore the chest floats across oceans and reach Elona, Its a far cry for help from Gwen she knew we going to find it because she knew we will open any un-open chest hoping for gold drop in them... and it does bring you to one of the most beautiful off hand the Rose Focus.

I have insider information, it was put there just to see how long it took someone to notice and make a thread about it :P *sarcasm*
But seriously, it has nothing to do with gwen just because you gave them to her in pre. They are all over the place, and theres no need for a direct connection to gwen. However if it makes you fell better to think there is, then think it. Who knows maybe it was put there for a quest that was never completed, or will be added later.
My bet is its just there to screw with your head.

I think it was sent down a river/ocean or something as well.

I ran around pre-searing gathering a ton of Red Iris flowers, then went to Elona and dumped it in that chest when you weren't looking.

I agree with Mazey Red Iris flowers were a game symbol thing put in the game as something for Gwen. It wouldn't make 'Game' since if they it were just someone else who liked them. After all their only use in the game is for Gwen.
